Having moved from NYC to Puerto Rico this really resonates - I used to be driven crazy by the slow restaurant service until I realized wait… why would I ever be upset by more time with people I’m intentionally spending time with?
Now every time I’m in NYC I get antsy being overattended and feeling rushed 😅
I’ve heard the American trope “the service is slow here because they staff isn’t working for tips” SO many times, and it’s just simply not true. People are just more chill I think 😅
Milan is not quite as laidback and Sundays are somewhat functional still, but I would say it's definitely more than any place in the Netherlands. It always gets me when I decide to take my dog for a 'late' morning walk and catch most Milanese already on their first spritz of the day (at 11AM lol).
